SBC-500 under the counter installation
|
We have many inquiries as to the "under- the-counter" installation of the SBC 500. In fact, Keg World, has installed many such " under-the-counter" units, locally, in Las Vegas... In the most recent past, more and more of these "under-the-counter" installs, have been outdoors; included with installs of barbecues, sinks, & even other refrigerated appliances.
Here's what we've learned:

Such an install will void the compressor warranty from the manufacturer. We suggest, you plug the cabinet in for a 48 hr period, and establish that it can maintain at least a 33 degree inside temperature, so get a reliable thermometer, and place on the floor of beer dispenser. We have sold this unit for over 5 years and have had two (2) bad compressors and they were like that from the "get-go". Further, we have worked on dozen's of these beer dispensers tap systems 20 to25 years old, and they are still chilling properly.

You must provide adequate breathing space for the unit. That is to say, minimum 2" air space to backside, 1 1/2" on sides and if the front of the unit is to be enclosed, a grill or louvers on the front or backside of the counter the unit is going under. NOTE: The temperature control knob for the SBC500 is on the upper left top corner of the units backside - the ideal place to put a removable air-flow cover allowing access also, on a full enclosure setup.
-
The airspace created when raising the tower to countertop surface, must be dealt with, as not to allow cold air escaping from cabinet and to minimize foam. This is best accomplished by using a 1 1/2" of flexible plastic tubing or "Braided ABS", to enclose the space and drop the beer line through from tower into the Keg Box.
|
WARNING: Units placed either outdoors or in a garage or any other non-climate controlled spaces will be affected by the ambient temperature changes. It's important to place and frequently monitor a thermometer on inside of beer box. Beer will freeze at 28 degrees and furment at 58 degrees.
